Motorcyclist Killed in Brooklyn Center Crash
A motorcyclist has died following a crash Sunday afternoon in Brooklyn Center.
The crash happened shortly after 1:30 p.m. on westbound Interstate 694 near the split to southbound Highway 100. The Minnesota State Patrol, based on witness accounts, says a driver slowed and made a last-second exit to Highway 100, cutting across traffic.
The sudden shift forced several vehicles, including a large semi, to veer left to avoid a collision. The motorcyclist, identified as Jeremy Hackbarth, 43, of Hastings, lost control and was thrown from his 2007 Harley Davidson Cruiser. Hackbarth died from his injuries.
The State Patrol says Hackbarth was not wearing a helmet. Authorities have not yet identified the driver that caused the chain-reaction crash.
