More Development coming to Northern Brooklyn Park
Brooklyn Park City Council members say they frequently are asked why there aren’t more sit-down restaurants in the city. It was a topic of discussion once again at this week’s city council meeting.
“People say not another fast food place,” explains council member Lisa Jacobson. “Unfortunately we don’t get to pick who comes to our community.”
Council members talked about the restaurant issue as they approved a stand-alone Wendy’s in the Highway 610/Zane Avenue area.
“We don’t need any more fast food places, I don’t think,” explained council member Terry Parks. “I’m going to vote for it. I want to say no I can’t, but are we anywhere close to getting sit down restaurants?”
Parks and other council members approved the stand alone Wendy’s hat will be built on 94th Avenue North, just south of the HyVee. There are more plans for development just east of that area, which include fast-casual restaurants like a Chipotle with a drive-thru and a Jersey Mikes.
More Sit-down Restaurants could be coming
The city says there are plans for more sit-down restaurants in the works, but nothing can be announced just yet. Until then, City Planning Director Cindy Sherman says to check out the interactive restaurant map on the city’s website. The map might introduce you to a new restaurant.
