MnDOT Seeks Feedback on Environmental Review for Hwy. 252 Project
The Interstate 94 and Highway 252 corridor that runs through Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park is due for some significant upgrades. Now, members of the public will have their chance to weigh in.
That stretch of road has been plagued by crashes and traffic congestion. It’s also a difficult area to navigate for bicyclists and pedestrians.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation is in the middle of an environmental review to take a closer look at how a potential construction project could affect the people, plants, animals, water, air, buildings and other structures in the area.
“We’ve got a wide range of things that we’re considering. Some of that could be a pretty substantial change in the context of the roadway as well,” said Chris Hoberg, the I-94 and Hwy. 252 public engagement manager for MnDOT. “We want people to be well-informed and understand both the benefits and the impacts of what that decision could mean.”
MnDOT is hosting several events over the next week, both virtually and in person, for people who want to discuss the project with staff members.
