Minneapolis Glass Breaks Ground on New Brooklyn Park Headquarters
Minneapolis Glass — a woman-owned family business currently based in Plymouth — hosted a groundbreaking on a new 115,000-square-foot headquarters in Brooklyn Park on May 1.
The new facility will be built at 9500 Decatur Dr. N.
It is the latest development in the cluster of industrial buildings southwest of the interchange at Highway 610 and 169.
“We’re just thrilled to be here today,” said Jennifer Lang, president and owner of Minneapolis Glass. “This is really a dream come true for us.”
The company is expanding from its existing 70,000 square-foot campus at 14600 28th Ave N.

“We’re excited to continue the legacy of this company,” Lang said. “We will finally be able to have a state-of-the-art facility here where we can bring all of our employees under one roof.”
The new facility gives the company the ability to “design the manufacturing space specifically to the needs of our business,” Lang said. “We’ll be bringing in brand new equipment and integrating our supply chain so that we will be able to kind of control our own destiny in terms of the glass and glazing materials that we supply.”
Minneapolis Glass was founded by a family friend in 1937, Lang said.
“My father took over the company in the late 60s,” she said. “I’ve been with the company 27 years, and now my brother and I are running the company. And so yes, we have a rich family history and legacy. We also have a very close-knit community within our company.”
The company frequently works with home designers, contractors and construction firms, as well as product designers in the manufacturing space.
“Kind of anybody and everybody who’s using glass somewhere, whether in their products or in their construction,” Lang said.
The company expects to expand its capacity by more than 50 percent at the new facility.
