Maple Grove Takes Closer Look at Remote Work Policy
The city of Maple Grove is considering a remote work policy that city leaders say could help recruit and retain city workers.
Under the proposed policy, department directors may approve remote working for up to two days a week. Department directors or the city administrator could discontinue the remote work at any time. Many positions would still require in-person work.
“Clearly the bulk of our work here at the city is in-person service, police, fire, public works, building inspections, those types of things are something we do as we are present here,” explained city administrator Heidi Nelson. “But there are positions within the city that could have some flexibility for remote work.”
The city hasn’t formally approved the policy yet. The council will discuss the matter at a future meeting.
