Maple Grove Robotics Manufacturer to Build New Facility
A Maple Grove manufacturer plans to move and expand in the city.
Mechatronic Solutions, which specializes in robotics and automation, plans to construct a multi-tenant office, manufacturing and warehouse facility on undeveloped property southeast of I-694 and Hemlock Lane. The company would occupy just over half of the proposed 44,000-square-foot building. Up to four additional tenants would lease the remainder of the space.
Mechatronic Solutions has called Maple Grove home since 2010 and has 42 employees. It currently leases space in a building directly to the east of the proposed development. City officials say Mechatronic Solutions outgrew its space and wanted its own building. The company initially looked at Plymouth before returning its sights on Maple Grove.
“Thankfully they had reached out to staff and were able to look at other options with the city of Maple Grove to ensure that we were able to retain them within the city,” said Brett Angell, the city’s economic development manager.
The project site would combine three separate parcels, including two vacated roads, the previous 73rd Avenue North and Zachary Lane.
The Maple Grove Planning Commission recommended approval at its Sept. 27 meeting. The project awaits final approval at the Oct. 4 Maple Grove City Council meeting.
