Maple Grove Restaurant Desperate for Workers, Holds Job Fair
The Lookout Bar & Grill in Maple Grove is not immune to a worker shortage. Normally the restaurant has 120 employees this time of year, but this year it only has 75. The Maple Grove venue held a walk-in job fair in hopes of filling some positions.
“We want to take care of our people, but we have to have the staff to do it,” said owner Mike Kinnan. “We never used to hire. We just had employees who were here.”
Kinnan says the idea of having a job fair to hire restaurant workers came up at a manager’s meeting, so they decided to try it.
The Lookout is one of several restaurants struggling to hire people during the ongoing pandemic.
