Maple Grove Receives Proposal for Car and Pet Wash
A first-of-its-kind car wash is proposed for Maple Grove. What makes it different? It will also be a place to wash pets.
The concept is proposed in the Markets at Rush Creek development, west of the Hy-Vee grocery store, in the southwest part of the city.
“It’s a unique blend of uses I have not seen elsewhere,” said Craig Lamothe, chair of the Maple Grove Planning Commission.
According to city planning officials, the 7,200-square-foot building would have a “northwoods lodge look.”
“It should be a rather attractive looking building,” said Jesse Corrow, Maple Grove city planner, at Monday’s planning commission meeting.
The car wash would occupy 5,600 square feet and include a conveyor system capable of washing multiple cars at a time. The pet wash, which would be self serve, would fill the remaining 1,600 square feet.
“In the tunnel we do have windows. So when you car goes out, you can look over and see the dogs getting washed too from inside the tunnel,” said owner Nick Netley. “People love dogs. I think it’s a good combo.”
The business would be called Sota Shine. Netley owns a car wash of the same name in Waconia.
The Maple Grove City Council is expected to vote on the plan at its next meeting. If approved, construction would start in late May or early June. Netley said the goal is to open by late October.
