Maple Grove Receives Plans for New Early Childhood Education Center
A new early childhood daycare center is proposed for the city of Maple Grove, one that company representatives say will help address a “critical community need.”
The Gardner School is proposing to build a new 11,635-square-foot facility in northwest Maple Grove, at 96th Avenue and Garland Lane North, just west of Menards.
The facility would be licensed for up to 160 young children and have up to 24 staff members.
The Gardner School is also constructing a similar-sized project in Plymouth off Highway 55 and Peony Lane.
Originally based out of Chicago, The Gardner School is approaching 50 schools around the country, including six child care facilities currently operating in the Twin Cities.
“They really like the Twin Cities. They like the demographics,” said Brian Farrell, principal with Northland Real Estate Group, speaking on behalf of the company at Monday’s Maple Grove Planning Commission meeting.
The planning commission recommended approval of a planned unit development stage plan. The Maple Grove City Council is expected to vote on approval at its next meeting on Monday, Aug. 19.
