Maple Grove Police Continue To Look for Suspect in Benihana Restaurant Shooting
Maple Grove police continue to look for a suspect in a shooting that occurred Friday afternoon inside Benihana restaurant.
According to police, two men who appeared to know each other were involved in an altercation that led to the shooting shortly before 4:30 p.m. Friday near the front entrance inside the restaurant, located in the 11800 block of Fountains Drive.
Police said a 33-year-old man was shot in the groin. The victim drove himself to a nearby hospital, while the shooter also drove from the scene before officers arrived, police said.
The shooter has not been arrested, Maple Grove police Cmdr. Jon Wetternach told CCX News midday Monday.
The victim has since been released from the hospital, Wetternach said. A motive for the shooting remained unclear.
“We do not know a motive at this time, but believe that the suspect and victim knew each other prior to the incident,” Wetternach said.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the Maple Grove Police Department at 763-494-6100.
Maple Grove police are being assisted in the investigation by the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office Crime Lab and the Anoka-Hennepin Narcotics and Violent Crimes Task Force.
