Maple Grove Middle School Students Pack Hundreds of Hygiene Kits
Maple Grove Middle School students had a special mission this week: put together hundreds of hygiene kits.
Students helped collect more than 12,000 hygiene items and pack more than 1,000 kits, which will be distributed to the nonprofit CROSS Services.
Parent volunteers who assisted in the effort left inspired by what they saw.
“Overwhelmed with joy, overwhelmed with joy to see so many people come out,” said Deb Otto with PACT, a group of parents and staff members that work on projects to build school inclusivity. “It will serve a lot of people for a lot of months to come, so very grateful.”
The effort was in large part thanks to students on the school’s Fuel Up leadership team who chose this particular service project.
Maple Grove Middle School students made quick work Wednesday by forming multiple assembly lines and putting together bags filled with everything from deodorant and toothpaste to shampoo and body soap.
“I definitely like being clean, and a lot of people do, so we can help a lot of people by doing this,” said eighth-grade student Paisley Thompson.
