Maple Grove Man, 76, Who Died in Fiery Crash ID’d
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner has identified the Maple Grove man who died after his truck crashed into a home, starting a fire.
Authorities say Steven Beugen, 76, died in the Oct. 12. incident. His vehicle slammed into the attached garage of a home in the 15100 block of 96th Avenue N.
Police pulled Beugen out of the truck as it caught fire, officials said. Both the vehicle and garage quickly became engulfed in flames. Firefighters soon arrived and got the fire under control.
The preliminary investigation indicates that Beugen may have suffered a medical incident before the crash.
At the time of the incident, a Maple Grove police spokesperson said two police officers had to be taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. They have since returned to work.
An online obituary said Beugen was a loving husband and father and “took care of his family until the very end.”
A memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, at Hodroff-Epstein Memorial Chapel, 126 E. Franklin Ave., in Minneapolis.
