Maple Grove Ice Castles Attraction To Open Jan. 24
It’s been a frustrating winter for ice castles, but the attraction that’s expected to draw tens of thousands of people to Maple Grove will open in two weeks.
Ice Castles in Maple Grove officially announced an opening date of Wednesday, Jan. 24. The company hoped to open on Jan. 13, but unseasonably warm weather in December forced crews to push back the opening date.
“Mother Nature has thrown us a few challenges this season, which delayed our opening,” said Ice Castles CEO Kyle Standifird in a statement. “While winter doesn’t always come on our schedule, we’re thankful that it does come eventually.”
Now that winter is cooperating, ice artisans are working around the clock to get the attraction ready.
It will feature ice-carved tunnels, slides, sculptures and a Polar Pub ice bar.
Meanwhile, staff members from Experience Maple Grove are hopeful that once the attraction opens, visitors will enjoy the city’s other amenities.
“We want people to come to Maple Grove to see the ice castles and then stay and enjoy everything else Maple Grove has to offer,” said Anne Anderson, general manager of Experience Maple Grove. “From our skating loop at Central Park, we have bikes over there that you can rent, to all our shopping and dining, and then our hotels. Stay and enjoy the weekend.”
Anyone who books a hotel in the city can get a free ticket to see the ice castles by emailing their room confirmation information to Experience Maple Grove.
Meanwhile, the Ice Castles are located in a lot next to Life Time, near the intersection of Main Street and Weaver Lake Road. Tickets are on sale now.
