Maple Grove Hy-Vee Employee Wins Company’s Highest Customer Service Honor
Cathey Gardner found out Friday that she is one of only 15 Hy-Vee employees company-wide to be awarded the company’s highest customer service honor this year. She was surprised this morning at the Maple Grove store with the “2022 Hy-Vee Legendary Customer Service Award.”
“Everybody started clapping, and I was like ‘oh no, I know what this is,” said Gardner.
Gardner has worked for Hy-Vee since 1989, but moved to the Maple Grove store when the location was opened three years ago. She believes “every customers is someone she can be friends with.”
However, she credits her co-workers as inspiration for her work every day.
“Working with my work family is the most rewarding because everyone has the same work ethic,” said Gardner. “When you go home, you know you had a good day. You had good conversations with your customers and with your work friends.”
Gardner wins big too. She wins a free $5,000 trip for two, to a destination of her choice. She also receives a ring and will attend a luncheon at the company’s headquarters.
“In the end, it’s about who gives the best customer services and how loved you are by your customers,” explained Jake Scheitler, a district store director with Hy-Vee. “Cathey has a tremendous reputation at this store.”
Hy-Vee says this year 15 employees were selected by more than 80,000 employees.
