Maple Grove Hospital Celebrates 70,000 Baby Deliveries
The Hughes family was part of a milestone moment for Maple Grove Hospital over the weekend.
The hospital celebrated its 70,000th baby delivery on Saturday, Sept. 27. That’s when Kelly and Todd Hughes welcomed their new baby, Hugo, into the world.
The occasion is another reminder of the impressive growth for the hospital, which is part of the North Memorial Health system.
Maple Grove Hospital has been around for 15 years and delivering its 70,000th baby shows just how much it has grown.
Nurses with the hospital’s Family Birth Center say the suburban hospital was originally built to do 50 births a month. It has since grown to deliver roughly 10 times that number, or 400-500 baby deliveries a month.
“We love reaching these milestones because it really shows the impact we have in the community and we like to treat everyone here like our family,” said Andrea Hamborg, a registered nurse at North Memorial Health – Maple Grove Hospital. “We’re just so happy people want to come to our house.”
Hamborg has worked at the hospital for 14 years. Her colleague, Leah Cota, has been at the hospital for 13 years.
“We have a lot of staff retention that have been here for years or since the beginning, which I think says a lot,” said Cota, also a registered nurse. “Most of us I would say have had our own babies here, which is pretty special, so I just think we’ll continue the growth that we have shown the last 15-plus years.”
Maple Grove Hospital also continues to rack up honors. It was recognized in 2025 by the Star Tribune’s “Minnesota’s Best” competition in the “Best Place To Have a Baby” category.
