Maple Grove Dunn Brothers Main Street Location Closes
Maple Grove Dunn Brothers Closes at Main Street Location
A popular coffee shop on Maple Grove’s Main Street has closed. Dunn Brothers closed this past week after maintaining that location for many years.
The business didn’t post a statement on its Facebook page other than to reveal the location is “permanently closed.” A sign on the door read, “Thank you for 14 years of incredible support! We loved serving this community!”
Maple Grove officials indicated a franchise renewal agreement could not be reached.
“From the understanding of city staff, the owner of the business was unable to come to an agreement with Dunn Brothers to renew the franchise agreement and ultimately made the decision to close,” said Brett Angell, the city’s assistant community and economic development director.
Dunn Brothers was founded in 1987 by brothers Ed and Dan Dunn. Its first location was in St. Paul. The company has since expanded to more than 60 franchise locations in seven U.S. states. That includes a Dunn Brothers location inside the Maple Grove Cub Foods on Wedgewood Lane.
As for what’s next at the Main Street location, Angell told CCX News “there has been a significant amount of interest in the space” with the goal of keeping it a coffee shop.
“From a City-standpoint we are excited for the potential new user of the space and see a definite need for the area to retain a coffee shop user,” said Angell.
