Maple Grove Discusses Possible Sound Walls Near Hwy 610
The city of Maple Grove is taking a closer look at whether sound walls are needed near Hwy 610 and Rush Creek Boulevard, or County Road 30. The city council will discuss the matter on April 4. No action is expected to be taken.
A city report says that after a noise analysis, 17 locations within the project area were identified as having the criteria needed for a sound wall. Of those 17 areas, 14 consist of noise impacts to trails only. The Northglen Carriage Homes development is nearby and some of the homes are affected.
Determining whether the walls are erected is complicated. It comes down to local residents who are affected, Hennepin County which owns the right of way, and the city of Maple Grove, which operates the trail.
