Maple Grove Arts Center Celebrates Grand Opening of New Venue
After having to move out of the space they called “home” for the last seven years, the new Maple Grove Arts Center is officially open to the public.
“It’s highly visible, and also I think, personally, I do think the layout is better,” said Lise Spence-Parsons, president of the Maple Grove Arts Center. “It’s more gallery-like, it’s lighter, it’s whiter, it’s airier, the lighting is superb for both art and education.”
The Maple Grove Arts Center celebrated the grand opening of its new space at the Grove Square Shopping Center Thursday afternoon.
A group of volunteers spent three weeks converting the space — which used to be an embroidery shop — into a venue that will host classes and display works of art.

City officials joined members of the Maple Grove Arts Center on Sept. 18 for a grand opening celebration. The space is located at 13617 Grove Drive.
The first show in this new gallery is called “Art in Motion,” which includes 45 pieces created by a dozen different artists. That show runs through Oct. 10.
“So, anything that reminds me of motion,” said Teri Iverson, the gallery director. “You know just the motion of the actual supplies, the motion of the subject, is a lot of fun — ones to look at if you’re looking around the room. A lot of fun art mediums and then a lot of fun art subjects.”
This will be the home of the Maple Grove Arts Center for the next three years. The plan is to then move to the Maple Grove Community Center.
