Man Dies, Two Injured in Golden Valley House Fire
A man died and two others suffered injuries in a house fire Friday night in Golden Valley. One of the injured was a Golden Valley police officer.
According to Golden Valley fire officials, firefighters and police officers responded at around 10:45 p.m. to a home on the 4600 block of Golden Valley Road. When fire crews arrives, flames were visible at the home.
As crews worked to put out the fire, they found a man trapped in the basement. Fire Chief Bethany Brunsell said the man did not survive his injuries.

Chief Brunsell said a woman inside the home escaped the fire and is being treated at a hospital for burns and smoke inhalation. The woman’s injuries are not life-threatening and she’s expected to be released this week, Brunsell said.
The police officer was treated for smoke inhalation and has since been released from the hospital, the chief said.
It’s not yet known how the fire started. The state fire marshal and Hennepin County investigators are working to determine the cause.
