UPDATE: Man Charged with Assault in Golden Valley

An Anoka man is now charged with third-degree assault following a harrowing case that played out on Golden Valley roads.
Police say Raul Lizarraga, 45, used his vehicle to pursue and ram a woman’s vehicle off the road near Golden Valley Road and Theodore Wirth Parkway. The incident happened Friday at 11:30 p.m. According to the criminal complaint, Lizarraga then assaulted the woman, causing significant injuries.
The 33-year-old victim had a no-contact order against the suspect, the complaint said. Golden Valley police say the woman was taken to North Memorial Health Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.
In addition to third-degree assault, Lizarraga is facing an attempted homicide charge, police said. Lizarraga remains in the Hennepin County jail held on $40,000 bail.
