Man Charged in Robbery That Led To Hennepin Tech Campus Lockdown
A Brooklyn Park man has been charged with robbery that resulted in the lockdown of Hennepin Technical College earlier this week.
Franchel Davis, 20, is accused of stealing a cell phone from his ex-girlfriend, then pointing a gun at her in the parking lot of the college’s Brooklyn Park campus. Police said they found the suspect hiding in a bathroom at the college.
According to the criminal complaint:
Davis had taken the victim’s cell phone. When she tried to get the phone back, Davis pointed a gun at her and said, “don’t play with me and choose your moves.”
The complaint said Davis left with the woman’s phone and went inside the school. The incident occurred Tuesday at approximately 12:30 p.m. Hennepin Technical College implemented lockdown protocols that lasted for about an hour and a half.
Police arrested the suspect without incident. Officers found the victim’s cell phone with the suspect but did not locate the firearm.
Court records show Davis’ next court appearance is Feb. 28.
