Local School Districts Provide Updates on Mask Policies
COVID-19 test positivity rates are the lowest since late December, according to Minnesota Department of Health data released Monday.
The seven-day rolling average dropped to 12.5% as of Feb. 4. That’s down from 23.6% on Jan. 10, the pandemic high.
While that’s good news, the percentage of cases is still in the “high risk” category for viral spread, according to state health officials.
Mask policies vary by school district
Local school districts are monitoring the data, with some changing their mask policies. On Monday, the Anoka-Hennepin School District no longer required face coverings for students or staff, unless returning from a quarantine. However, school officials say masks are still “strongly recommended.”
The district will update its masking guidance every Friday by sending out an email to families.
Meanwhile, the Osseo School District will transition to a school-by-school model after Feb. 18, meaning mask requirements at every school will be based on rates of student absences.
The Robbinsdale School District will continue to require masks, while it assesses county transmission levels.
