Local Dentists to Provide Free Dental Care to Children In Need
A visit to the dentist’s office can be expensive for those who don’t have insurance, but an annual event happening next month aims to provide free care to low-income children in need.
Bassett Creek Dental in Golden Valley is one of more than a hundred dental offices in Minnesota that will take part in the annual “Give Kids a Smile” event on Feb. 7 and 8.
That weekend, 1,200 dental professionals will volunteer their time and provide free dental care to children under the age of 18 who have pre-registered.
The program is for any child whose family faces financial or other challenges accessing dental care.
“Teeth are not only important for chewing and for functioning, but they really help a child’s self confidence — for smiling, for the way they look and for the way talk,” Dr. Samira Mahabadi, a dentist from Bassett Creek Dental. “So it’s a huge deal for kids, and we really want to help them out, those that are unable to afford it.”
