Local Dance Teams Part of Super Bowl Halftime Spectacle
The Super Bowl halftime show had Justin Timberlake and a tribute to Prince, not to mention several local high school dance teams, including Wayzata, Maple Grove and Hopkins.
“It was so cool. The experience was like unreal,” said Jessica Laurance with the Maple Grove dance team.
You couldn’t miss the team, they were the ones wearing the bright-colored jackets. Members of the Maple Grove team were still feeling the excitement from the show.
“He’s walking down the ramp and I’m like five feet away, and he’s right there and like, at that point I’m like, ‘it’s actually real now,'” explained Emily Zeig
The team had several dance scenes throughout the halftime routine. The young ladies also got to meet the pop star.
“He was at most of our practices, he liked talked with us, he was saying how grateful he was we were there,” said Laurance.
To add to the excitement, the girls had to keep their performance a big secret for a month. They couldn’t even tell their siblings.
“They said if they saw like anything, like any post on social media, or anything, they would like remove the whole entire team from the Super Bowl.”
Representing their school during the Super Bowl halftime is something they say they’ll remember for the rest of their lives.
