Local Celebrity Baker Marjorie Johnson Turns 100
A Robbinsdale resident who became nationally renowned for her baking skills had a special celebration on Friday.
Marjorie Johnson is turning 100 years old.
The New Hope YMCA, where she exercises several days a week, gave her the special gift.
Marjorie Johnson has won many awards and state fair ribbons for her baking skills. The acclaim led to regular appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Now at 100 years old, Marjorie remains a lively personality.
“If you disregard the wrinkles, I got the energy I had then. I never lost any of my energy,” she said, referring to her younger days. “And I feel good and I don’t have any aches and pains. I don’t have arthritis, and I haven’t had a stroke or a heart attack or anything that everybody gets.
Marjorie’s actual birthday is next Friday, Aug. 9.
