Le Dome Pickleball Facility To Open in Brooklyn Park
A Brooklyn Park sports facility is finding new life under a new owner.
Located next to Fleet Farm at 8401 83rd Ave. N., the former Premier Pickleball and Tennis Club has been transformed into Le Dome by Lucky Shots.
While the previous owner offered both tennis and pickleball, in its new format, it’s pickleball only.
“It’s a growing sport, and the popularity seems to be on a continuum,” said owner Peter Remes. “It hasn’t slowed down really … It doesn’t take a year to get good. You can start to play and get the ball over the net the first time you’ve ever held a paddle. And I think that’s just an attractive, low barrier to entry that is appealing to people”
Remes is also the owner of the high-end Lucky Shots Pickleball Club in Minneapolis.
With the new location, Remes said the Lucky Shots brand can reach a new audience that might not travel outside the northwest suburbs for pickleball.
“I think our clubs offer a different attractiveness or a different vibe than most others,” he said. “Our club is very unique in the sense that we offer a lot of spaces for social spaces, lounging.”
The mezzanine that overlooks the courts offers couches, tables and a sociable environment.
“That’s what’s so great about this space,” said Ginna Wasmund, director of events for Lucky Shots. “You can kind of see the way they styled it, all the different settings for people to gather, eat, drink, mingle, socialize, that’s why we’re excited about this space.”
With a bright pink and green color theme, they aimed for a vintage country club aesthetic.
However, there’s more to the renovations than a coat of paint.
“This is one of our new courts, 13 courts that we completely redesigned and put new surfacing everywhere,” Remes said, standing in the play area. “Cushioned court surface which is super easy on the knees and joints.”
As they open back up, they’re excited to hear the pop of the paddle.
“It’s awesome to see it. We love seeing people come in and use the facility and play,” Remes said.
The grand opening event for Le Dome is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18. They’ll have free court time, instructions and paddle rentals.
