Kitchen and Rail Restaurant Coming Soon to Golden Valley
A restaurant space in Golden Valley that’s been vacant for the last three years will soon have a new tenant.
Kitchen and Rail will occupy the space that was once home to Mort’s Deli, which closed in the summer of 2022.
“In the restaurant industry, it’s an ‘A’ location in an ‘A’ marketplace,” said Victor Salamone, founder of Kitchen and Rail. “So we’re really excited to be joining the neighborhood, so to speak, and bringing what we do best.”
Kitchen and Rail currently has a spot in Eagan, but the owners wanted to expand and chose Golden Valley for their second location.

The owners of Kitchen and Rail will begin work soon to transform the former home of Mort’s Deli into a new restaurant.
Salamone describes Kitchen and Rail as an eatery with different styles of food, such as the “Famous Filet Mignon Sandwich,” “Nana’s Meatballs,” and the restaurant’s proprietary wine label, Victorio’s. Folks can also enjoy a variety of cocktails.
“We are going to transform this place into something that feels a little swanky, but you can come in in your golf shorts and your polos and have a great time,” Salamone said.
Kitchen and Rail plans to open its Golden Valley location sometime in early 2026.
Meanwhile, the restaurant is rolling out a new half-pound pastrami sandwich at its Eagan location called “The MORT,” in honor of its new home in Golden Valley.

To honor the legacy of Mort’s Deli, Kitchen and Rail is rolling out a new sandwich in Eagan called “The MORT.” It’s a half-pound, New York-style pastrami sandwich stacked high on caraway rye with stone-ground mustard, house pickles and kettle chips.
