Johnnie Mae’s Lounge Opening Soon in Robbinsdale
A new business is coming to Robbinsdale that aims to provide great food and entertainment in the city.
Johnnie Mae’s Lounge plans to open at a location in the Town Center shopping complex. The family-owned business is a tribute to the owner’s mother, Johnnie Mae Bell, who passed away last year.
Andre Bell says the business was years in the making.
“The struggle that it took to get to this place, it was like, once we got the okay for everything, all the money was there, I just cried,” Bell told CCX News on Wednesday. “It was very emotional for me.”
The Robbinsdale City Council approved a liquor license for the venue on Tuesday night. The venue had sat vacant for the last couple of years. It had previously been The Lodge and the Breakaway Bar and Grill before that.
Bell said Johnnie Mae’s Lounge will serve a variety of food and offer Sunday brunch. It also plans to offer a variety of entertainment, including live comedy and karaoke nights.
The venue is aiming to open before Jan. 18, which would have been Bell’s mother’s birthday.
