Impaired Driver Damages Lakeview Elementary School Sign
Robbinsdale police say an impaired driver caused significant damage to the main sign outside an elementary school.
The sign at Lakeview Elementary School, which was installed in spring 2021, needs significant repairs. School officials put the damage at $23,425.
Police say Charlissa Siner, 33, of Apple Valley crashed into the sign just after 4 a.m. on March 25. She has been charged with two gross misdemeanor DWI charges and two other misdemeanor counts.
According to the criminal complaint:
Police responded to the accident and located Siner in her vehicle. The complaint says Siner denied being involved in the accident “even after exiting her car and seeing the crash scene.”
A breath test revealed an alcohol concentration of .18, more than double the legal limit of .08. A police search of Siner’s vehicle found a half-full bottle of tequila in the back seat, the complaint said.
Court records show Siner was previously convicted of DWI in 2016.
The school is in the process of trying to get the sign fixed or replaced.
