‘I just love my community,’ Brooklyn Park Nonprofit Founder Rents U-Haul to Deliver Thanksgiving Meals
Dozens of families will be happy to see a U-Haul truck pull up at their home this Thanksgiving season. Clint “Scooter” Draughn is renting the truck to make special meal deliveries.
Draughn runs the Brooklyn Park nonprofit Honored 2 Help that aims to help families in need who are unable to pick up a meal package at their local charity.
“There’s a big need and all families deserve to have these resources, especially on holidays like Thanksgiving,” said Draughn.
On Monday and Tuesday, Draughn plans to deliver from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m., or whatever it takes, to make sure roughly 150 thanksgiving meals get dropped off to those who can’t pick them up. He partnered with the Salvation Army Noble Worship and Service Center to make it all happen.
“I went to the store the other day and cereal was $7. So if we can help families, provide for those needs, those basic essentials, that’s what we’re here to do,” said Draughn. “I just love my community and the community responds well.”
The food delivery includes everything you would need for a complete Thanksgiving meal. Draughn says there are 30 more slots available if families need to sign up for a delivery. Families can contact Draughn at 612-305-8306 or email info@honored2help.org.
