‘How Far We’ll Go’: Maple Grove Teacher Creates Distance Learning Parody
Distance learning can be tough, but a music teacher at Oak View Elementary School in Maple Grove is reassuring students through song that staff are ready to help.
Monica Healy rewrote the lyrics to the song “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana to let students know how much teachers support them during distance learning.
“Even when you’re home, you are not alone. We’ll be there for you, no matter what you do. We’re on Google Meet, it’ll be so sweet, we’ll take care of you,” sings Healy.
Healy says she hoped the song would convey to students how far staff members will go to help them out. You can listen to it here.
It’s not the first time Healy has turned a popular tune into a motivating medley for students. Earlier in the year, she also created a clever parody to Hamilton’s “You’ll Be Back.” Her YouTube page is also filled with interesting ways to keep students learning music, like a playing “Dance Monkey” on a cup.
