Hennepin County Sheriff Faces Four Misdemeanors for DWI Crash
Hennepin County Sheriff Dave Hutchinson has been charged with four misdemeanors for drinking alcohol and getting into a single vehicle crash in Douglas County last week.
The Douglas County Attorney charged Hutchinson after he crashed on I-94 near Alexandria last week. The charges include the following:
- Fourth-degree Driving While Impaired (Minn. Statute 169A.21.1)
- Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol (Minn. Statute 169A.20.1(1))
- Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Blood Alcohol Content of .08 Within Two Hours (Minn. Statute 169A.20.1(5))
- Carrying a Pistol Under the Influence of Alcohol (Minn. Statute 624.7142.1(4)
The Minnesota State Patrol continues to investigate the rollover crash that sent Hutchinson to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Hutchinson’s blood alcohol content was .13, which the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension determined from a urine sample. The legal limit in Minnesota is .08
