Grammy-Winning Artist to Perform at North Hennepin’s JazzFest Feb. 11
A Grammy Award-winning artist will help bring a little New Orleans-style jazz to the northwest metro this weekend.
Adonis Rose is the artistic director of the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra. He won a Grammy with the group in 2010 for best large jazz ensemble.
This weekend, he’ll be working with students from the North Hennepin Community College jazz ensemble.
“This has been a part of my life forever,” Rose said, referring to music and teaching. “So I was a part of college ensembles, bands, high school bands, and became a professional musician. So this is what I love to do. I love seeing the process and I love taking part in helping musicians figure out what they want to do in the future.”
If you want to hear Rose perform live, he’ll bring the sounds of New Orleans to JazzFest, a free concert happening at North Hennepin Community College on Feb. 11 at 6 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Theatre.
Rose also plans to spend time working with local high school students this weekend.
