Golden Valley Warns of Scam Billing Calls
The city of Golden Valley is warning residents to be aware of fraudulent billing calls. The calls, according to city officials, claim residents have an outstanding utility or city bill that must be paid immediately over the phone.
Of course, the calls are not from the city of Golden Valley.
“The city does not make collection calls demanding payment,” read a press statement released by the city. “If a balance is due, residents will receive an official notice by mail.”
Golden Valley and other municipalities also never request payment through gift cards, prepaid cards, or immediate phone payment. If you do receive a suspicious call, never provide personal or financial information.
“If you are unsure about your account status, contact Golden Valley City Hall directly using the phone number listed on the official website or your billing statement,” read the city release.
