Golden Valley Rolls Out New Color Scheme for Police Vehicles
Police vehicles in Golden Valley will soon have a new look as part of a department rebrand.
The new color scheme is an all-black design and features the department’s new patch logo.
“Out with the old and in with the new,” said Golden Valley Police Chief Virgil Green. “And I know some people are probably kind of like ‘hey, we kind of like the old.’ But I’m pretty sure in the years to come, they’ll get adjusted to the new color scheme.”
Golden Valley’s old Ford Explorer SUV’s were painted black and white and featured the image of a gold police badge on the doors.
While this is just a small change, Green says it’s an important step as he works to move the department forward.
“When you look at some of the things that have happened with the agency, this is just another thing that is very positive,” Green said. “And it’s those small things; I’ve always said since I’ve been here, it’s those small things that really gets people’s attention and gets people excited.”
The city currently has two of these vehicles with the new design, and two more on the way. All should be ready to patrol the streets by January.
