Golden Valley Police Chief on Paid Leave As Complaint Investigated
Golden Valley Police Chief Virgil Green has been placed on paid administrative leave. This follows an undisclosed complaint filed against the chief, CCX News has confirmed.
“The City of Golden Valley has placed Police Chief Virgil Green on paid administrative leave until further notice pending review of a complaint,” a spokesperson for the city said. “Under state law the City is unable to share the nature of the complaint. Assistant Chiefs [Alice] White and [Rudy] Perez will co-lead the department in Chief Green’s absence.”
Green has been police chief in Golden Valley since 2022.
He was hired as the police department faced a staffing crisis. More than half of the department’s officers had left before he was hired.
Green made history as the city’s first Black police chief. His hiring was marred by a tense selection process in which there was disagreement on candidate support.
