Golden Valley Fire Department To Offer Flu, COVID Shots at Oct. 12 Open House
It is Fire Prevention Week, but as Golden Valley Fire Chief Bethany Brunsell points out, it’s been a difficult year for fire fatalities.
“This year has not been a great start in Minnesota for fire fatalities,” said Brunsell, speaking at last week’s Golden Valley City Council meeting.
So far this year there have been more than 33 fire-related deaths throughout the state. One of those cases occurred last month in Maple Grove.
“We’re hoping that our residents and our community members will take action and make sure they working smoke alarms in their homes to help keep them safe,” said Brunsell.
Fire officials say a working smoke alarm doubles the chances of surviving a fire.
