Golden Valley a Candidate for New Baxter R&D Facility
The city of Golden Valley is a candidate to land new jobs if plans by Baxter Healthcare come through for a new research and development facility.
Baxter is considering a facility at 201 General Mills Boulevard for its so-called “R&D Center of Excellence.”
The Deerfield, Ill.-based company makes products to treat kidney disease and other medical conditions.
According to city documents, Baxter would make a $30 million to $40 million investment in the 90,000-square-foot property, known as the Bassett Creek Innovation Center. The plans would create 100 jobs over the next two years that would make the company eligible for state job program funds.
The company is also considering Chicago for its center, the documents revealed.
If Golden Valley is chosen, Baxter would relocate another 70 jobs to the new center from an existing facility in Plymouth.
