Glenda Clayton Breast Cancer Toys for Tots Foundation Needs Toys
A Brooklyn Park nonprofit needs help in bringing holiday gifts to less fortunate families.
The Glenda Clayton Breast Cancer Toys for Tots Foundation serves 2,000 families. This year, it has a shortage of donated toys, particularly for teens.
“I see families struggling. I have given out of my own refrigerator this year, me and my mom to help people. You just don’t tell people about those things and because I worked in a shelter for seven years, I was in contact with a lot of homeless families so I was able to first hand see the needs,” said Latrina Caldwell with the Glenda Clayton Breast Cancer Toys for Tots Foundation.
The Brooklyn Park police and fire departments have partnered with Glenda to collect toys. Gifts will be accepted through Dec. 22.
The city has set up drop off points at both police precincts, 5400 85th Avenue North and 7608 Brooklyn Boulevard. The Brooklyn Park Fire Department is also accepting donations at the Central Fire Station at 5700 85th Avenue North.
