Fundraiser Underway to Purchase Protective Vests for Brooklyn Center Firefighters
You can go into either of the two Brooklyn Center Municipal Liquor Stores from now until September 11 to donate to a special fundraiser to purchase protective vests for all Brooklyn Center firefighters.
“We anticipate we know what’s behind the door, but we don’t know what’s behind the closed door when it opens up,” said Brooklyn Center Fire Chief Todd Berg.”There’s potential for hostility.”
The protective vest would be something new for the Brooklyn Center fire department and one vest would be assigned to each firefighter.
Organizers have collected donations from local businesses and civic organizations too.
“We’re over halfway to our goal of outfitting every firefighter and we’re hoping to finish strong and complete the goal of September 11,” said Tom Agnes, the Brooklyn Center liquor store manager. “We’re getting donations from right here in Brooklyn Center and from as far away as St. Cloud.”
