Four Juveniles Arrested in Brooklyn Park After Crashing Stolen Car
Brooklyn Park arrested four suspects early Tuesday, accused of trying to steal a Kia vehicle, a brand thieves have been targeting due to a security flaw.
According to Brooklyn Park police:
An officer initially spotted the suspects, all juvenile males, at the Fountains in the Park apartments leaving at a high rate of speed at about 12:40 a.m. The officer then observed the suspect traveling through the parking lot of the Ridgebrook Apartments without lights on. The officer pulled into the lot and observed the suspects breaking into a Kia Soul.
The suspects saw the officer and fled, eventually crashing in the 5300 of 77th Avenue N, just over a mile away, police said. The suspects tried to run away, but Brooklyn Park police say all of them were arrested with the help of a Minnesota State Patrol helicopter and Hennepin County Sheriff deputies.
The vehicle that the suspects crashed, a Hyundai Sonata, was reported stolen earlier in the day by a Brooklyn Park resident, police said.
