Former State Rep. Dennis Smith Announces Run for MN Attorney General
Competition is picking up for next year’s Minnesota attorney general race. One candidate is a familiar face.
Dennis Smith, who represented Maple Grove and Osseo in the Minnesota House for two terms, has announced he will run for attorney general in 2022. Smith is the second Republican to declare intentions to run for Minnesota attorney general, joining Doug Wardlow. Keith Ellison defeated Wardlow in 2018. No Republican has won election for state attorney general since 1966.
Smith has created a website and released a video about the announcement.
Smith represented the district in the House until he lost to DFL-member Kristin Bahner in 2018.
