First Housing Development Proposed for Maple Grove’s Northwest-610 Area
The first housing development for an area of Maple Grove northwest of Highway 610 was recommended for approval by the city’s planning commission.
The Evanswood development proposal would have 358 single-family homes priced between $450,000 and $600,000, plus 150 townhomes, located north of 101st Avenue North.
The developer, St. Louis-Park-based Excelsior Group, wrote in a letter to the city, “We believe that our plan for Evanswood meets the planning goals of the city delineated in the Northwest 610 Master Plan, creates a very diverse neighborhood in terms of housing type and price while preserving the natural features of the site, notably the Rush Creek corridor to be enjoyed by future generations.”
City staff says this development will likely be the first of many projects in this area and will likely trigger the Osseo School District to begin the process of constructing a new elementary school.
