Farewell to CCX News Reporter Sonya Goins
Reporter Sonya Goins signed off from CCX News on Wednesday, after 10 years covering the northwest suburbs.
Sonya came to what was then 12 News after working at other Twin Cities news stations. She was always quick to go to the scene to be ready to report. She enjoyed working with law enforcement and was on a first-name basis with many officers. She was quick to give the public insight on trends, training and new equipment.
Sonya also had a heart for telling stories about how people overcame personal challenges, possibly because she knew firsthand the daily struggle it took when overcoming her own.
Sonya has always been very open about sharing her journey with Crohn’s disease, leading discussions and talking about awareness and education. She shared treatments and challenges online. A few years ago, a breast cancer diagnosis didn’t silence Sonya. She opened up on social media to dance her way though cancer treatments.
The team at CCX Media wishes Sonya Goins a heartfelt good luck in her next adventure. Thank you for serving your community, for telling stories that matter, and for inspiring us all to be #SonyaStrong.
