Elm Creek Swim Pond Prepares for Busy Weekend
The Elm Creek Swim Pond parking lot in Maple Grove has stayed full this summer– so has its staffing.
Dominic Ray, park operations manager with the Three Rivers Park District, said all that traffic is a great thing, as is having an appropriate number of lifeguards.
There are 25 lifeguards in total manning the swim pond, which is considered fully staffed.
Ray said it had been a challenge getting lifeguards, but scheduling flexibility has helped. As toasty temperatures are ahead, he’s grateful everyone is on board.
“We’ve had a couple of good weeks here now, that people are definitely looking to come out. They are looking to cool off in the water. We’ve been really busy, you know, from the playground, to the picnic area, to the swim pond,” Ray said. “The swim pond is kind of our hub, our center. The busiest part of our park right now– especially on hot days like today.”
Ray recommends buying a park season pass online to avoid the lines. A one-day pass can also be purchased on site.
Ray also recommends bringing your own umbrella, since Elm Creek’s ‘Fun-Brellas’ sell out quickly.
