Early Snowfall Brings Much-Needed Sales Boost to Osseo Motorsports Shop
When your business is dependent on the snow, the more of it the better.
That’s the case for Heinen Motorsports in Osseo, where cash registers got a big boost from early winter snowfall.
Sales associate Jordan Deutscher said his store has sold 60 snowmobiles so far this season, a 50 percent increase from this time last year when snow wasn’t as plentiful.
Despite a recent warm-up, Deutscher is keeping his hopes up for strong sales throughout winter.
“We are still early enough in the season and it’s honestly one of the first years in a long time we’ve been able to have actual rideable snow this early in the season,” said Deutscher. “So it’s very optimistic for the foreseeable future.”

Heinen Motorsports in Osseo has sold 60 snowmobiles this so far this winter, according to sales associate Jordan Deutscher.
Deutscher said they’ve sold out of children snowmobiles that make for popular gifts around the holiday season.
They are also pushing online sales to snowy places out West and Upper Michigan to help with their bottom line.
Local Weather Expert Gives Winter Snowfall Prediction
While winter started out with a bang, typical of Minnesota weather, things changed earlier this week with a warmup.
“It started out looking like it was going to be a big snow year, because we got that snow at the end of November and spilled into early December and that’s when we got most of that snow,” said Steve Reckers, a longtime weather observer in New Hope who reports his data to the National Weather Service. “It looked like it was going to be a gangbuster year.”
According to Reckers, we’re at about 17 inches of snow so far this season, which is actually about average.
However, Reckers said with the La Niña weather pattern, he’s hopeful we will have a more normal snow amount for the year which is about 54 inches.
Last year, a very mild winter, the Twin Cities northwest suburbs only received 25 to 30 inches of snow.
