Driver Arrested in Maple Grove Crash That Killed One, Critically Injured Another
One person is dead, another remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, while a third person is in jail following a three-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Maple Grove.
The crash occurred shortly before 4:30 a.m. Sunday on County Road 81, just west of Maple Grove Parkway.
According to police, a 67-year-old woman driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released.
Another driver, a 31-year-old man, suffered critical injuries. There was no update on his condition Monday afternoon.
Police arrested a third driver involved in the crash. A 21-year-old woman is jailed on suspicion of criminal vehicular operation. Charges are pending.
Due to the active investigation, police were unable to release further information on factors contributing to the crash.
In addition to the Maple Grove Police Department, the Maple Grove Fire-Rescue Department, Dayton Police Department, Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol crash reconstruction specialists and North Memorial Health Ambulance Service responded to the crash.
