DMV Open on Saturday to Help with Driver’s License Renewal Rush
The DMV Is Open On Saturday to Help with Rush
Facing a crush of people needing to renew their driver’s license, the Plymouth DMV is open on Saturday’s. At least temporarily.
The Plymouth Driver and Vehicle Services location will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. It will handle driver’s license renewals only that day. The Saturday hours are currently slated to run through March 27.
Renewal extensions for expiring licenses were granted due to the pandemic, but that extension ends March 31. In addition, drivers with a license expiration date of March 1, 2021, or later must renew by their due date.
Drivers can also renew their licenses online at drive.mn.gov. However, drivers must renew in person if they are making any changes to their name, address, signature or license number.
Real ID Deadline is Oct. 1
Minnesotans also face another important deadline coming up. Beginning Oct. 1, Minnesotans cannot use their standard driver’s license to board domestic flights. Instead they will need a security-enhanced Real ID.
