District 281 Educator Named to Governor’s Young Women’s Cabinet
Governor Tim Walz named District 281 Educator Athena Cloud to a new initiative called the Young Women’s Cabinet. The goal of the cabinet is to bring together nonprofits, businesses and government to help achieve equal opportunities for all women.
Cloud is the American Indian Educator for Robbinsdale Area Schools and also a member of the Red Lake Band of Chippewa. This week, she led an educational event for Native American History Month in the evening at Robbinsdale Middle School.
“I hope they see my passion for helping implement the changes I want to see in our state and our nation,” said Athena Cloud. “I was very ecstatic and very excited to be accepted.”
Cloud is one of 32 young women serving on the cabinet. The Women’s Foundation of Minnesota is also a part of the initiative.
