Crystal’s Bassett Creek Park To Get New Dog Area, Pedestrian Bridge
Significant improvements are in the works for Bassett Creek Park in Crystal.
Those plans include building a new, larger dog park. The expanded park would have separate areas for small and large dogs and a trail connecting each.
The city council approved going out for bids this week.
Part of the project also includes replacing a 40-year-old pedestrian bridge. The current bridge does not support the weight of maintenance vehicles, so it is not cleared in the winter.
At this week’s meeting, city council members said pedestrians are using a tree trunk and rope to cross the creek.
The city went out for bids on both projects last year, but they came in too high.
Crystal hopes to get started on improvements by late spring and have the project completed by July.
